UNIEP attended the European Employment & Social Rights Forum 2026
On 4 March 2026, UNIEP attended the European Employment & Social Rights Forum organised by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion. During the day, international speakers emphasised the importance of skills and their development within the labour sector and for creating a competitive Europe.
During the discussion, speakers explored current digital skills requirements, the challenges and opportunities they present for the labour market, and practical examples of how to address these challenges.
They discussed AI, its increasing significance and prevalence in companies, and the need to develop the skills to use and manage it. The workplace must become a place of learning, and it is through work that people can acquire new skills.
It also analysed how businesses can contribute to providing the new skills needed for Europe's future through the new Pact for Skills, highlighting that European instruments are in place to support businesses in both training and mobility. The Pact for Skills is an alliance focused on adult and youth education. It is a real added value for companies and the future, and UNIEP is pleased to be a part of it.
